S.K.B.R..College, Amalapuram is one of the oldest and reputed colleges in the state with a history of over 6 decades of its glorious existence. EThe Department of Commerce is one of the oldest departments in the college and was established in the year 1951 i.e., the year of establishing.the college itself. The department was successfully steered by its Founder Head Major N. Krishna Murthy, who was instrumental in developing it by leaps and bounds. His successors Sri.S.Suryanarayana, Sri M.Venkateswara Rao and Sri D.G.K.Raju also contributed their mite for the rapid growth of the Department. The Department which made a modest beginning with 4 staff members and about 20 students has made rapid strides and today it is one of the biggest Departments in the college with 09 staff members and about 600 students.There are also a couple of other supporting members like computer programmer and instructors. The Department has also got good academic environment with all the physical facilities and infrastructure like Departmental Library, Computer Laboratory and a seminar hall. At present the Department is bestowed with competent staff who are highly qualified and well experienced.Some of them have been rendering their services as Principals, members of Results Committee, Board of studies and Chief examiners.Their active participation in extra curricular activities like NCC officers, Coordinators and conveners of various bodies in addition to academic work is commendable.The traditions set forth by their predecessors are being followed. ver since its inception in 1951, Our college has been striving for academic excellence by imparting quality education to the students. In recognition to the infrastructure and academic standards of the institution, the College has been accredited with B++ grade by the NACC, Although several colleges are mushrooming in and around Amalapuram, the students as well as the parents prefer our College, because of the excellent faculty, very good infrastructure, fully equipped laboratories, a very good Library and a very spacious play ground on the campus. In addition to the conventional courses, several courses like Electronics, Computer Science, Bio-Technology and Bio-Chemistry have been introduced at the UG level with the prime motive of improving employment opportunities to the students immediately after the completion of their studies. The UGC has been liberal in releasing the grants to our College. A women’s hostel has been constructed on the campus with the financial support from the UGC. An indoor sports stadium is also sanctioned by the UGC and the stadium along with the outfield is going to take shape very shortly. Several National Seminars have been organized on our campus with the financial assistance from the UGC. For any educational institution to prosper, the faculty plays a vital role. We can proudly say that our college has a very good faculty who are committed to discharging their duties sincerely. Many students who were nurtured by our esteemed institution are occupying highest positions in the society today. The alumni are deeply indebited to institution and are keen in the development of the institution to greater heights.
